We explored the depths of Xenonature through CoLAB, an experimental laboratory that brings together ideas of nature, technology and the future. In collaboration with the Institute For Postnatural Studies, we developed Perpetumm Mobile— a role-playing experience inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and shaped by the provocative concept of Xenonature.

This interdisciplinary exercise challenged conventional ideas of what nature, technology and the future can mean, opening up new territories for creative exploration. Guided by Pablo Ferreira, we moved beyond disciplinary boundaries to collectively build an active speculation and fiction around possible futures.

The ambition behind Perpetumm Mobile goes beyond creating a role-playing game. It is about constructing an ever-evolving universe where heroic fantasy and future technologies intersect in unexpected ways. Drawing from the philosophy of Dungeons & Dragons, players are invited to explore, make choices and shape their own paths through a world of magic, technology and evolving challenges.

The creative process became an exercise in unrestricted imagination and in bringing seemingly disparate worlds together. Perpetumm Mobile is not simply a game, but an exploration of our ability to imagine, collaborate and construct alternative realities.

Designing a world governed by different possibilities required us to move beyond familiar conventions. The challenge was not simply to imagine another future, but to build the conditions for it — a space where creativity meets technology, and where nature becomes intertwined with what comes next.

This journey into the unexplored became an opportunity to question creative boundaries and consider futures we might not otherwise imagine. The name Perpetumm Mobile evokes this idea of continuous movement: an evolving world that encourages players to explore, discover and shape their own destiny. Rather than a fixed system of rules and mechanics, the game becomes a living narrative, transformed by every decision and unexpected turn.

The influence of Dungeons & Dragons is therefore not purely aesthetic, but philosophical. Players are given the freedom to define their own paths — becoming heroes, magicians or explorers within a universe where magic and technology converge in unexpected ways.

Creating Perpetumm Mobile became more than an academic exercise. It was an experiment in unrestricted creativity, collaborative world-building and the synthesis of seemingly incompatible ideas. The project demonstrates how imagination can challenge established boundaries and create new frameworks for thinking about nature, technology and the future.

Ultimately, Perpetumm Mobile is an invitation to explore the unknown, question conventions and imagine alternative futures through play. What began as an academic experiment became a speculative world of its own — one designed to remain in motion, continuously shaped by those who enter it.
