too.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the September\u2013December 2022 semester, <strong>Architectural Design VI<\/strong> explored new ways of living in response to the evolving needs of Santo Domingo and its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the semester, students moved from research and analysis to the definition of new architectural typologies, developing proposals where <strong>housing, work, commerce, culture, gastronomy, recreation and community<\/strong> could coexist in different ways.<\/p>\n<p>What began as six ideas gradually became six architectural projects.<\/p>\n<h2>Six Ideas, Six Projects<\/h2>\n<p>The studio resulted in six proposals, each approaching the relationship between architecture and contemporary life from a different perspective.<\/p>\n<p><strong>01 \u2014 Aquatic Commercial &amp; Residential Platform<\/strong><br \/><em>Sindy \u00b7 Amy \u00b7 Sheedhartha<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A mixed-use platform exploring new relationships between residential life, commercial activity and water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>02 \u2014 Communal Commercial Villa<\/strong><br \/><em>Gabriela \u00b7 Diukeidy<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A hybrid model combining community, living and commerce within a shared architectural environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>03 \u2014 Dominican Cultural Residence<\/strong><br \/><em>Marian \u00b7 Edmirla<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A residential proposal where Dominican culture and identity become part of the spatial experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>04 \u2014 Sports Camp &amp; Stadium<\/strong><br \/><em>Daniela \u00b7 Paula<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A programme bringing together accommodation, sports, recreation and collective spaces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>05 \u2014 Officetel Mirador Bot\u00e1nico<\/strong><br \/><em>Mar\u00eda \u00b7 Manuel<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A hybrid work-and-living typology exploring the increasingly blurred boundaries between home and workplace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>06 \u2014 Dominican Gastronomic Centre<\/strong><br \/><em>Linette \u00b7 Francheska<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A cultural and mixed-use destination using Dominican gastronomy as a catalyst for experience, gathering and identity.<\/p>\n<h2>From an Idea to Architecture<\/h2>\n<p>The final projects represented more than the resolution of a semester.<\/p>\n<p>They documented the entire process of learning how to transform an initial question into architecture:<\/p>\n<p><strong>research \u2192 context \u2192 programme \u2192 concept \u2192 space \u2192 resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each proposal evolved differently, but all began by questioning existing models and considering how architecture could respond to changing ways of living.<\/p>\n<p>And that was always one of the things I enjoyed most about teaching design:<\/p>\n<p>not giving students the answer, but helping them develop the tools to find their own.<\/p>\n<h2>The Last Studio<\/h2>\n<p>Looking back, this semester means something different to me now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Architectural Design VI was the last architecture studio I taught in Santo Domingo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In December 2022, I closed the semester with these projects and with it, an important chapter of my professional life.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching had given me a different way to experience architecture \u2014 through questions, conversations, critiques, experiments and, most importantly, through seeing ideas evolve in the hands of someone else.<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks later, in January 2023, I moved to <strong>Madrid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>New city.<br \/>New references.<br \/>New challenges.<br \/>A new chapter.<\/p>\n<p>There are moments you only recognise as endings once you look back at them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This was one of For the September\u2013December 2022 semester, Architectural Design VI explored new ways of living in response to the evolving needs of Santo Domingo and its surrounding areas. Throughout the semester, students moved from research and analysis to the definition of new architectural typologies, developing proposals where housing, work, commerce, culture, gastronomy, recreation and community could coexist in different ways. What began as six ideas gradually became six architectural projects. Six Ideas, Six Projects The studio resulted in six proposals, each approaching the relationship between architecture and contemporary life from a different perspective. 01 \u2014 Aquatic Commercial &amp; Residential PlatformSindy \u00b7 Amy \u00b7 Sheedhartha A mixed-use platform exploring new relationships between residential life, commercial activity and water. 02 \u2014 Communal Commercial VillaGabriela \u00b7 Diukeidy A hybrid model combining community, living and commerce within a shared architectural environment. 03 \u2014 Dominican Cultural ResidenceMarian \u00b7 Edmirla A residential proposal where Dominican culture and identity become part of the spatial experience. 04 \u2014 Sports Camp &amp; StadiumDaniela \u00b7 Paula A programme bringing together accommodation, sports, recreation and collective spaces. 05 \u2014 Officetel Mirador Bot\u00e1nicoMar\u00eda \u00b7 Manuel A hybrid work-and-living typology exploring the increasingly blurred boundaries between home and workplace. 06 \u2014 Dominican Gastronomic CentreLinette \u00b7 Francheska A cultural and mixed-use destination using Dominican gastronomy as a catalyst for experience, gathering and identity. From an Idea to Architecture The final projects represented more than the resolution of a semester. They documented the entire process of learning how to transform an initial question into architecture: research \u2192 context \u2192 programme \u2192 concept \u2192 space \u2192 resolution Each proposal evolved differently, but all began by questioning existing models and considering how architecture could respond to changing ways of living. And that was always one of the things I enjoyed most about teaching design: not giving students the answer, but helping them develop the tools to find their own. The Last Studio Looking back, this semester means something different to me now. Architectural Design VI was the last architecture studio I taught in Santo Domingo. In December 2022, I closed the semester with these projects and with it, an important chapter of my professional life. Teaching had given me a different way to experience architecture \u2014 through questions, conversations, critiques, experiments and, most importantly, through seeing ideas evolve in the hands of someone else. A few weeks later, in January 2023, I moved to Madrid. New city.New references.New challenges.A new chapter. There are moments you only recognise as endings once you look back at them.
