As Architecture Studio Manager at DL+A Arquitectos, Sarah Tió presented a practical case study on the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within an architectural practice, exploring how the methodology transformed both project documentation and collaborative workflows.
Rather than approaching BIM simply as a new design tool, the presentation examined its role as a shared working methodology — connecting information, documentation and team coordination throughout the development of a project.
Drawing from the studio’s experience, the case study highlighted how BIM could improve the consistency of architectural documentation, facilitate coordination between team members, reduce repetitive processes and establish a more integrated workflow across multiple projects.
The presentation also reflected on an important aspect of digital transformation in architecture: adopting new technology is not only about software. It requires reconsidering how teams communicate, organise information and work together.
The session was organised by CATBIM, GRAPHISOFT’s representative in the Dominican Republic, as part of the launch of ARCHICAD 24.
