As Architecture Studio Manager at DL+A Arquitectos, Sarah Tió presented a webinar exploring the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a methodology for architectural documentation, coordination and collaborative design.
The session looked beyond BIM as a software-based process, focusing instead on how a shared digital environment can transform the way architectural teams organise information, coordinate decisions and develop projects collectively.
Drawing from the studio’s professional experience, the presentation examined the benefits and challenges of integrating BIM into everyday architectural practice — from creating more consistent project documentation to improving communication and establishing more efficient workflows between team members.
At the centre of the conversation was a simple idea: digital transformation is as much about people and processes as it is about technology.
Implementing BIM requires teams to reconsider traditional ways of working, establish shared standards and understand how individual contributions become part of a coordinated project ecosystem.
The webinar was organised by the School of Architecture and Design at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (EAD–PUCMM) as part of its anniversary programme and series of educational webinars, creating an opportunity to connect professional practice with architectural education.
